we’ve done a little hibernating this weekend for 2 reasons:
- the holidays wore. us. out. holidays have always been my fav, but now they are my exhausting fav. i don’t love them any less for this, i just need added recovery time!
- snow. we are southerners. we are inexperienced. and as a general rule we do not drive up big, life-threatening hills covered in ice.
so, cute husband made breakfast yesterday morning and then woke me up when it was ready. bonus points! i like him. then we decided that it was time to send our beloved christmas tree back up to his home in the attic [yes, he’s a fake tree. he’s cute and has little berries and pinecones.]
i went through about a 30-second grieving process, hating the room without the tree, and then accepted the fact that the holidays are actually over. this is fine, this is okay with me! but now i need warmth! and sunbathing! the period of time between now & spring break is very difficult for us sunshine-needers. which is precisely why i require a spring break.
so, we kinda started coming out of hibernation yesterday afternoon. we got a little restlessy and bordish, but still didn’t really want to put forth much effort. good ole stevo presented these sunday options to get out of the house:
- take a walk [it’s freezing outside.]
- take a drive [impractical.]
- drive through the market [what does that mean? apparently it was code for “go to costco.”]
these options were not ideal. i presented my own options:
- go shopping [knew this wouldn’t win.]
- paint the kitchen [he said this wasn’t getting out of the house, but you have to buy the paint so it is.]
naturally, we chose to take a trip to costco. crackerish chips, sharp cheddar, jamaican coffee. big adventure. so, to sum up, costco was a test. and we passed. we’re ready to come back out of hiding! now i really really wish the sunshine should do the same.
